Creatives Inspiring Jewish Engagement

Beautifully Jewish shares the power of craft to inspire resilience and strengthen Jewish community and gives voice to Jewish creatives. The project inspires hands-on engagement within and in support of Jewish communities around the world.

Beautifully Jewish is a global community nearly 8,000 strong. The project brings creative projects and resources to communities from Skokie to Scarsdale and from the shores of Malibu to the beaches of Eilat. What started as a podcast at Tablet Magazine is now an independent project led by Beautifully Jewish founder Tanya Singer.

Here are some recent successes:

  • Craft Along for Israel – Just after October 7, 2023, Beautifully Jewish launched a craft along, inspiring makers around the world to knit and crochet hats for soldiers in the IDF, to make handmade cards, and to crochet dolls for hospitalized children. Hundreds of items were delivered to Israel and the project led to a global effort to ship yarn and supplies to hotels housing evacuees in Israel. Our community even provided knitting totes for evacuees participating in volunteer-led hotel knitting programs.
  • Stitch Them Home – Working with local fiber artists, Beautifully Jewish inspired hundreds to knit and crochet yellow ribbons assembled into a work of art in several locations, from New York to Milwaukee and even Hostage Square.
  • Beautifully Jewish Chesed Market Fundraiser – Our community hosted a market and crafting event in March 2025. The Beautifully Jewish community made yellow butterflies which were sent to Tel Aviv’s Hostages Square and shopped from Jewish artisans.
  • Jewish Hearts for Skokie – After an October 7, 2025, assault on Jewish children playing in a local park in the heart of Skokie, our community sprang to action, in partnership with the Chicago Jewish Alliance. Crafters created hearts from wood, yarn, felt, paper and other materials. Volunteers hung the hearts in the park just in time for Hanukkah 2025, culminating in a public event.
  • Beautifully Jewish Shabbat Candles L’Dor V’Dor event with UJA/Federation Metro West.
  • NY State Sheep & Wool Festival – Sold out Shabbat dinner (using OneTable/Jewish Studio Project Guide). Meet Up. Sold 50 Jewish Swag Bags featuring items from Jewish-owned craft businesses.
  • Vogue Knitting Live – Annual Meet Ups with Jewish Makers at NYC conference.
  • Camp Beautifully Jewish – Day-long programming and crafting.
